Welcome To
Chicken Ballooning
The Unique Catch and Release Sport That Helps Chickens Fly!  (Ducks Too!)

Chicken Ballooning is a NEW SPORT that anyone can do where you have plenty of space for Flying Chickens!  Space is needed, since one never knows which way the wind blows, and it's best to avoid crowds of angry fowl fanatics!

Note:  This is a catch and release sport, and the chickens are not harmed if you do this right.  Don't worry about their pride, they're too dumb to know you are making fun of them while you help them fly.  In the event that chickens are scarce, you can also use ducks.

See Poultry In Motion!

What You Need?

  1. A Chicken (or a Duck)
  2. A Harness or Doggy T-Shirt (recommended)
  3. Lots of string - to tie balloons to the doggy t-shirt and to tie to the bottom to hold the chicken
  4. About 100 helium filled balloons (standard party balloons - not a Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade balloon).
  5. Wet wipes (chickens poop a lot)
  6. Hand sanitizer (same story - yuck!!)

How Do You Do It?

  1. Grab A Chicken (rotisserie chickens taste good, but are no good for flying!  Unless you are on a diet!)
  2. Give the Chicken an suitable name (Larry has been taken), such as "Chicken Kanivel" or "Bob".  Or consider naming them after a movie star or politician that you wished would just float away!
  3. Put doggy t-shirt or harness on the chicken (watch out for those talons! Chickens can scratch! Not to mention use fowl language!)
  4. Attach your safety line - so the chicken doesn't become a Danny Deckchair!
  5. Attach your helium filled balloons.
  6. Then let the chicken go and say the magic words: "Fly My Little Chickadee" in a W. C. Fields accent.
  7. Try not to let the chicken fly higher than the length of your safety string.  Otherwise, you will be chasing your chicken across the countryside.  This can be very embarrassing explaining to people why you are chasing a flying chicken!

Chicken Run & Flying ChickensOur Favorite
Flying Chicken:

Ginger & Rocky The Flying Chicken!

Chicken Run tells the humorous story of a band of chickens who seek to escape from their coop before their owners, the dim-witted egg farmer, Mr. Tweedy, and his greedy, overbearing wife Mrs. Tweedy, turn them all into chicken pies, as she is not making enough money by selling eggs.  But as we all know, Chickens can't fly!  But along comes Rocky the flying chicken, and the rest is history!  Chicken Run has all the charm of Nick Park's Wallace & Gromit, and something for everybody. The voice acting is fabulous, the slapstick is brilliant, and the action sequences are spectacular.

Starring: Mel Gibson, Julia Sawalha, Miranda Richardson, Timothy Spall, Imelda Staunton, Jane Horrocks, Phil Daniels.  Director: Nick Park, Peter Lord
